Pile Repairs
Proserve’s Pile Jacket System is a designed to protect and repair marine piles which have become damaged from corrosion and other sources using concrete encasement

Pile jackets are the most common system used to repair piles due to their ease of Diver Installation.
Proserve’s system uses a zipped up porous fabric jacket that is left in place with a re-useable high strength PVC mesh corset. This system gives a uniform concrete encasement thickness and most importantly, the free water bleed from the porous jacket gives concrete quality and durability that cannot be achieved in conventional shutters.
 
Engineered Approach
Pile Survey – A condition survey including steel thickness the cause of corrosion or
damage needs to be established
Pile Repair Design – A structural appraisisal and repair design for the lifespan required is needed by a qualified Engineer. Reinforcement may be specified to weakened areas.
Concrete Mix Testing – Trial mixes and testes are undertaken with locally available materials and normally cast into porous fabric sleeves to replicate the bleed process.
Pile Cleaning – All rust, marine growth and weak or cracked concrete needs to be thoroughly removed. This is normally done by high pressure jet washing. Thorough cleaning is vital and should be inspected.
Concrete Quality – The porous fabric allows the free water in the mix to bleed down to a water: cement ratio of 0.4. This gives a significant improvement in strength and durability for the sand cement micro concrete normally used. With design of concrete thickness and appropriate mix design often incorporating GGBS and fiber reinforcement to enhance resistance against chloride/ sea salts, a medium or long lifespan can often be obtained.
Concrete Placement – Pump placement in controlled tremi fashion is most important to avoid separation of the mix. The micro concrete level is readily visible for the Diver and self closing filler sleeves every 2 to 3 m enable tremi style filling to be achieved and recorded by diver camera for quality control concrete thickness.
Pile Jacket Protection – The pile jacket is left in place. It provides a degree of resistance to chemical ingress. Where not in direct sunlight, or abrasive situations, the fabric remains long-term.
