Bridge Piers
 |
| Straits
Crossing, Canada |
Bridge piers are generally
set on a number of pads which rest on the bed surface.
Due to the
uneven nature of the bed surface and the need for the pier base
to be level, each pad requires concrete infill of varying thickness'
to be cast between the underside of the pad and the pre-prepared
rock bed.

This is achieved by fixing a Fabriform bag to the bottom of
the pad prior to its placement (as shown right)
Once the
pad has been positioned into its desired location, by crane, the
Fabriform bag is pump filled with Micro Concrete, this ensures
that a good, even seal to both the bed and the pad is achieved (as
can be seen in the Trial photograph below).
